WaterTaxi service will soon start from Mumbai to Navi Mumbai, route, travel time and other details

The Maharashtra government will start an electric water taxi service that links the Radio Club JT of South Mumbai with the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport near the Gateway of India. The purpose of this initiative is to reduce the travel time between the two cities to about 40 minutes, providing a permanent option for a 60-75-minute road trip via Mumbai Trans Harbor Link. The main features of the proposed service route and duration: Water taxis will run between Radio Club JT and Navi Mumbai International Airport in Colaba, which will reduce the travel time of about 40 minutes. Environmentally friendly ships: This service uses electric boats designed to reduce pollution and provide a quiet, more durable movement option. Infrastructure development: Terminal and pier are built in phases. The Maharashtra Marine Council will oversee the development of the terminal near the airport. Integration with the current transport network: Water taxi service is part of a comprehensive strategy to improve multimodal connectivity for Navi Mumbai International Airport. Authorities planned to integrate it with Mumbai Water Metro and to ensure easy transfer in buses, subway lines and trains. A high -level meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Minister of Port and Fisheries, Nitesh Rane, to discuss the government’s initiative and approval implementation. Officers were instructed to start planning, draw up proposals for infrastructure and obtain the necessary permission from the Airport Authority of India. Legal approval for JT construction recently rejected a petition that contested the construction of a passenger JT and the terminal between the Radio Club in the Gateway of India and Colaba. With the removal of this legal obstacle, the Maharashtra Marine board can now continue with the project. Share this story -tags
