MPR RI and UNNES have established collaboration, AI innovation encouraged in the library field

Jakarta – The MPR RI Library in collaboration with Semarang State University Library Upt (Unnes) held a library seminar entitled ‘The use of AI tools in promoting libraries in the digital era’. The theme was raised because artificial intelligence or AI was considered one of the supporters of library promotion, including in increasing interest in reading and thirsting for literacy. This seminar was also a momentum for the signing of the collaboration between the MPR RI and Unnes. The event was held on the Unnes Campus, Semarang, Central -Java, and was attended by the head of the MPR RI Link and Information System, Anies Mayangangari Munngar, S.IP., Me, which the Secretary -General of the MPR RI, Siti Fauziah, and Unnes Secretary. Dr. SS Martono, M.Sc. In addition, librarians from different institutions also attended enthusiasm to listen to the presentation of the speakers. The speakers in this seminar were the head of the Unnes Library Upt, prof. Dr. Sungkowo Edy Mulyono, S.PD., M.Sc., and Lecturer in Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Unnes, Dr. Feddy Setio Pribadi, S.PD., MT, and Moderated by Suwondo, S.Hum. He said that through the use of AI instruments, the library could facilitate the service process, strengthen promotions and reach more users, especially young people familiar with technology. “But behind the wonderful opportunity, there are challenges that we must stand together, both with regard to ethics, safety and readiness of human resources,” he continued. Therefore, this seminar is expected to provide new insights that can be applied in the future in the management of modern libraries, especially by using AI to support the sustainability of the library in the development of technology that continues to develop. Meanwhile, Unnes Secretary, prof. Dr. Sugianto, M.Sc., expressed his gratitude to the MPR RI who facilitated the collaboration between the Unnes Library and the MPR RI Library. According to him, this collaboration will bear many fresh ideas in the development of library services. “For this reason, we would like to thank the speakers on behalf of Unnes, especially to the MPR RI for facilitating this collaboration,” he said. He added that with the help of AI, more effective management management, enables more effective promotions and provides new experiences for library users, including the younger generation now known as the digital indigenous generation. “That’s why the seminar is expected to open new insights for all of us this morning on how to use different AI instruments, including making automatic content to increase the attraction and relevance of the library,” he explained. Adjust the head of the Unnes Library immediately, prof. Dr. Sungkowo Edy Mulyono, S.PD., M.Sc., said the library is at the heart of knowledge and knowledge windows. He also emphasized the term ‘demanding knowledge, though he reached China’. In his presentation, he showed how sophisticated the library in Shenzhen, China, which is all digital. According to him, Indonesia is still growing and adjusting it. Therefore, the library is an important forum for opening access to information, new insights and supporting learning for the future. “Learning is a lifetime or life throughout life. AI instruments accelerate the fulfillment of needs. In our library, for example, there is RFID that accelerates services. What if the whole AI? We have to adapt, because technological developments can no longer be offered,” he explained. Meanwhile, a computer engineering lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering Unnes, Dr. Feddy Setio Pribadi, S.PD., MT, explains that AI was actually an old technology found in 1945, when the Neural Network (NN) algorithm was first created. NN itself is an algorithm that mimics the operation of the human brain in providing stimulation, processing, to deliver outputs from the connection between data sets. “So, the algorithm that mimics the work process of the brain was first discovered by Warren McCulloch when we were independent. Americans thought so far, and now it is bleeding,” he said. Ai treeing, he said, took place because there are sufficient resources now, such as the Group Policy Person (GPO). Ai works like a machine that is taught how to learn like people. “We are now enjoying chatgpt, Gemini, Copilot, which is the result of years of training by Google and Microsoft. They enter audio, books, after the programming code. I need one to two weeks to complete the code earlier, now it is only one minute,” he explained. One of the participants who attended Awalinda Dia Putriramadani acknowledged that AI’s presence was very easy as a librarian. His knowledge of AI also increased thanks to the seminar that was considered ‘flesh’. The first librarian at the Semarang City Archive and Library Office hopes that this type of seminar can still be executed and make positive changes, especially in dealing with AI Sophistication. “Hopefully I can practice it directly and make the city of Semarang better. And if there is more, I definitely want to rejoin,” he said. The seminar is closed with a visit around the Unnes campus. At the event, the MPR RI Library team was invited to explore the 62 thousand hectares campus area, including an innovation house containing different innovation results and masterpieces of unnes lecturers and students.
