The history of this fort is very spectacular. The fort was built by Mahadaji Scindia, the founder of Gwalior in 1762 AD. Marathas had earlier done justice by placing a court in this fort. Under the leadership of Ambani Singh, the revolutionaries looted the Treasury and declared the Izlas Fort Independent. The historian announced the war, after a few years, British Major Berlton reached there with his soldiers and weapons and announced the war. Freedom fighters faced the war to a large extent, but the day, due to rain, he got wet and their guns could not face British guns. After that, British Major Berlton captured the ‘Izlas Fort’ and took it under his control. The British declared and hung the freedom fighter Amani Singh as a rebel. The settlement between the two towns increased and it became a city, which changed from “Izlas” to “Iglas”. The village of Asbar is still present as an environment. After independence in 1947, the Tehsil was established in the fort. After a few years it was transferred after the new building of Tehsil was built.
