Twins SS Carlos Correa and CF Byron Buxton placed in concussion protocol after the clash of the field
Baltimore (AP) -The short-stop of Minnesota Twins Carlos Correa and center-field worker Byron Buxton were both placed in the concussion protocol following a collision during Thursday’s 4-0 victory over Baltimore. Baltimore Cedric Mullins hit a flying ball to the shallow midfield leading from third place. Correa moved back to the outdoor grass in the pursuit while Buxton was chasing. Buxton seems to have called Correa off at the last minute, but it was too late. The 6-foot-2, 190 pounds of Buxton hit the 6-3, 220 pound of correa. Correa left the match immediately and was replaced by Jonah Bride. Buxton remained the rest of the third inning, but did not return for the fourth and was replaced by Ty France. “It’s one of those flying balls in the middle of both,” Jayce Tingler, who serves as the acting driver while Rocco Baldelli deals with a disease, told reporters. “And both are going hard, and you know, a good crowd today, with a lot of people screaming, hard to communicate, and of course they collided and hit their heads.” The 30-year-old Correa has just missed three games this season scheduled rest days after being limited to 86 games last season due to plantar fasciitis in his right foot. Tingler said he would have more information on the availability of one of the players for Minnesota’s three-game weekend series in Milwaukee on Friday. The twins take a winning line of 11 games in their interleague event with the Brewers. The run again disputed Minnesota in the competitive Al Central. ___
