The cleaning of 628 drains continues, and works in 43 places where the entire MCD has a total of 800 deep drains, which has a length of 530 km. Neatness work was assigned to contract agencies in all 12 zones, removing from the drains with the help of machines and sending them to Bhalswa and Ghazipur landfills. There is no dumping at the Okhla landfill yet. At present, the cleaning work is underway in 628 drains while the work is completed in 43 places. After the monsoon, the target is to withdraw 84,466 tonnes of silt the target to remove 84,466.6 MT for the second phase. Thus, the target of removing the total silt for FY 2025-26 is at 2,13,859.5 MT. According to the officer, the agencies were entrusted in February, but the work was delayed for different reasons. The officials have now given clear instructions to complete the work on war foot so that the cleaning of the drains in front of the monsoon can be secured.
