Kotdwar: Two and a half million scam in Gmou, 9 accused, including former officer arrested
Kotdwar, June 18 (IANS). An organized financial scam of about Rs 2.5 crore came to light at Garhwal Motors Owners Union Limited (Gmou), Kotdwar. Pauri police have arrested a total of 9 accused relating to the former president, former general manager, cashier, accounting and petrol division in this case. The police investigation revealed that during the year 2023-24, the accused caused the institute heavy financial loss by issuing salary in the name of false accounts, gift certificates and dead employees. Investigation is conducted by registering a case in this case. On March 5, 2025, current manager Vijay Pal Singh filed a complaint with Kotdwar Kotwali, in which former officials of large -scale financial eclipse were accused. Complaint on MS A FIR is registered below 70/2025, sections 420 and 406. On the instructions of SSP Lokeshwar Singh, a special investigative team was formed under the supervision of additional superintendent of police Chandramohan Singh and Co Niharika Semwal. The team underwent intelligence under the leadership of Inspector -In -Charge Ramesh Tanwar. The investigation found that false accounts were prepared in items such as petrol pump, the building, computer maintenance, electricity water, worship and donation of more than Rs 2.48 crore. In addition, a salary was also taken out in their name by showing the dead employees alive. False signatures are made for payment. The arrested accused includes former President Jeet Singh Patwal, former general manager Ushha Sajwan, former cashier Ashwani Rawat, Assistant Accountant Manjit Saini, the Babu Ashok Kumar, Assistant -Cassier Mukesh Kumar, acting cashier Rajesh Chandra Budakoti, Petrol Khantwal and Bill Clerk Rakesh Mohan Tyagi. All of them were arrested on Wednesday and produced in court. SSP Lokeshwar Singh said: “It was a well -planned and detailed economic crime. All the accused have been arrested.
