Rawalpindi [Pakistan]April 14 (Ani): Quetta Gladiators Up-Spinner Usman Tariq has been reported for a suspected bowling action during their collision against Lahore Qalandars in the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL). Usman has been reported for a suspected bowling action for the second time in so many PSL seasons. The 27-year-old man was reported by referees Ahsan Raza and Chris Brown in the match where Quetta fell to a 79-run defeat. “Quetta Gladiators Spinner Usman Tariq was reported by referees Ahsan Raza and Chris Brown for a suspected bowling action during the HBL PSL X match against Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday night,” the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said in a statement on Monday. According to the rules, USman can continue to bowl in the future PSL matches. However, if he is reported again, he will be expelled from the bowling and must clean up an ICC accredited laboratory before he can bowl again. Usman was first reported in March 2024 during the previous issue of Pakistan’s leading T20 tournament. Three games in the last PSL tournament, Usman reports for his bowling action. Five days later, however, he was cleaned at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. His actions are not contemporary for the one mostly used by outside spinners. Before letting go of the ball out of his hands, he stops for a short moment and then delivers his getaway with a side action. During the PSL match of Sunday, he returned with figures of 1/34 in his four-ear game. He rejected Sikandar Raza at 6 (6) in the first inning, but Lahore remained fearless and hammered a scary 219/6 on the board. In the pursuit of the 220-run target, Quetta lost his opening pair from Finn Allen and captain Saud Shakeel early. Kusal Mendis, 28, and Rilee Rossouw, 44, tried to strive, but their efforts were in vain. (Ani) first published: 14 Apr 2025, 08:14 IST
