Kannada actress Ranya Rao shocked in golden smuggling case, rejected the Supreme Court bail

Karnataka, April 26 (IANS). Kannada actress Ranya Rao had a major setback in the golden smuggling case. In fact, the Karnataka High Court rejected its bail pleader on Saturday. At the same time, another accused in this case also refused Tarun Raju to grant bail. A bank led by Justice Sawanur Vishwajit Shetty took on an order in this regard. The bail of Ranya Rao was rejected twice in this case. Meanwhile, he was discussed under the Forex Protection and Smuggling Act, 1974 (Cofeposa) Act. Below, the central or state government can keep a person in custody for a maximum of 1 year. The Central Economic Intelligence Bureau (CEIB), which is a chief agency working under the finance ministry, implemented the Cofeposa Act against the actress and other accused. Sources said central agencies took this step after repeated attempts by Ranya Rao and others in the case. Other accused Tarun Raju and Sahil Sakaria Jain were also discussed under the Cofeposa Act. Ranya Rao, stepdaughter of senior IPS officer Ramchandra Rao, was arrested on March 3 on a charge of smuggling 14.2 kg of gold. The price of gold is estimated at more than Rs 12.56 crore. Ranya Rao and other two accused in the case are currently being filed in the Bangalore Central Jail. The case is being investigated by DRI, Directorate for Enforcement (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The state government formed a special team led by a senior IAS officer to investigate the role of DGP Ramchandra Rao. Sources said the report was presented to the government in this regard. The investigation into the three’s golden smuggling case revealed that the actress at the Hawala deal with the third accused was involved in the case.
