Iraq is close to signing an agreement with the British company “GCX” to build the largest local data center in the city of Basra, and is aimed at building other data centers in the center and north of the country, according to the Minister of Communications, Hayam Al -Yasiri, in an interview with “Al -Sharq”. The minister said the data centers completed the communication infrastructure that was reinforced by switching to the marine cables, adding that the discussions were underway with a number of international companies to agree on projects to build interconnection points, expected the agreements to be signed with them soon.
