The initiative taken by the Ministry of Culture, the Government of India, Mera Village Meri Heritage, has now officially included about 11 towns in Delhi on a digital cultural map. The purpose of this scheme is to preserve the multidimensional cultural heritage of the towns of India and present it at the national and international level. Under this scheme, the National Cultural Mapping Mission run by Indira Gandhi National Center for Arts (IGNCA) is cultural, historical and traditional evaluation of these towns and their information on the portal. The lifestyle, traditions, food, folk arts, customs, costumes and architecture of these towns are presented on Doordarshan as audiovisual documentation. The towns of Delhi, which also participated in this initiative, important centers for educational studies. Among them are Sanoth, Nangali Poona, Pindwala Kalan, Singhu, Kharkhari Nahar, Shikarpur, Kangan Herry, Jonti, Jhuljhuli, Dhichohan Kalan and Kheda Dabur. These villages will not only become a symbol of cultural heritage, but it will also be an important center for tourism, research and educational studies. The process of submitting the information about the Information Portal and the Secretary of the IGNCA member, Dr. Sachidanand Joshi, said that under the “Panch Pran” announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, an effort is being made to give a new identity and platform for the tradition and culture of the towns under this scheme to realize the thinking of development. The process of investigating more than 750 towns across the country so far is underway on the portal. In this regard, Dr. Sachidanand Joshi, Lidskretary of Ignca, that it is not just a documentation, but a medium to take our cultural memory to the next generations. The main purpose of this survey is to preserve the details of the general culture of the villages and to raise awareness of the rural culture.
