The congress welcomes the Supreme Court's interim order over the Waqf Amendment Act, said the victory of the Constitution
New -Delhi, April 17 (IANS). The Congress Party welcomed the Supreme Court’s interim order over the Waqf Amendment Act and described it as an important step to protect the soul of the Constitution. Some spokespersons call it a victory of democratic principles against the conceptual politics of the central government. Senior Congressional Leader and Rajya Sabha MP, dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi, said that this act is not just an administrative change, but an ‘ideological attack’. He claims that the central government, which calls the central government ‘reform’, is actually a direct attack on the autonomy of religious institutions and the rights of minorities. Dr. Singhvi, citing Article 26 of the Constitution, said that every religious community has the right to manage their religious matters independently, and that any attempt to limit them is unconstitutional. He expressed concern about Articles 11, 9 and 14 of the WAQF Act, including provisions such as enrollment-based systems and the exceeding of non-Muslim members. He specifically referred to the interim prohibition imposed on the Supreme Court on Articles 9 and 14, saying that the ban shows that the court also questions the constitutionality of these provisions. The leader of Congress also said that the concept of Waqf ‘Bio User’ was abolished in the new law, which could lead to the existence of many historical and religious properties. He also described the provision to prevent WAQF recognition until the decision of the collector of property dispute is as chaotic and unconstitutional. Rajya Sabha MP Imran Pratapgarhi described this order as a victory of the Constitution and said that it is not just a case of a community, but that it is related to all minorities and democratic values. He expressed the confidence that there could be more relief in the next trial. Pratapgarhi said the law was ignored by the opposition in parliament and the joint parliamentary committee (JPC), but it was disputed by petitions in the Supreme Court. Congress has made it clear that the party fully fulfills its responsibility to create and save the Constitution and will continue to fulfill it. -Ians DSC/CBT Share this story Tags
