Man Charged with Child Endangerment in Shooting Death of 13-YEAR-OLD NEPHEW – ryan
A Chicago Man Has Been Charged in Connection with the Deadly Shooting of His 13-Yaar-Old nephew in March in Englewood.
Kemonte Rice, 25, appeared at a detection Hearing Tuesday and was ORDERED HELD BY JUDGE JAMES VINCENT MURPHY. Rice is charged with child endangerment causus and obstructing justice by destroying evidence.
He is accused of shooting his nephew, tawon tribble, on March 24 at his home in the 500 block of the west 65th place.
Tawon and Rice Were in Rice’s Bedroom Wen a Loud Gunshot Rang Out About 6 PM, Prosecutors Said.
Prosecutors Say Tawon Walked Out of the Bedroom and Shouted to Other Adults in the Home That a Gun Had Gone off. Hen Walked into the kitchen and collapsed.
Rice Walked Out of the Bedroom, Made A Phone Call and Left the apartment. One of the People Inside The Apartment Saw Rice Return, Go Into His Bedroom, Then Leave Again. Hen Returned and Told the Other Adults that an Ambulance was on Its Way, Prosecutors Said.
Tawon sufferered a Gunshot Wound to the Chest and Was takeen to a hospital, where he was pronounced Dead, Chicago Police Said. An autopsy by the Cook County Medical Examinar’s Office Ruled His Death a Homicides.
Wen Police arived at the scene, they found a live round, but they didn’t find a gun, Magazine or Shell Casing, Prosecutors Said. Officers say to Rice’s Mother’s House a Block Away and Arrested Rice.
Officers found the sweatshirt that rice was wearing at the time of the shooting, but still did not find the gun.
After Rice’s Arrest, A Witness Went to Rice’s Mother’s Home and Found the Hidden Under A Mattress. They Grabbed the Gun, put it in a pizza box and hid in the freezer. The Witness Said They Were Concerned for the Safety of the Other Children in the Home.
Tawon’s Father, who is Rice’s Brother, Learned Where the Gun Was Hidden and Was at the Hospital and Went to Look for it. Whene he couldn’t find it, he learned from the Witness where they have hidden it, and he tourned it over to the Police.
Ballistics Analysis confirmed that was us the gun to kill tawon, prosectors said.
On Tuesday, Rice Told Detectives that and Tawon Were in His Bedroom, The Gun Went off and Grabbed It From Tawon’s Lap. He also admitted that he had Hidden the gun at his mother’s mother.
Howver, Rice Had previously gioven conflicting staffements to detectives about what happy the day of the shooting. He at first told detectives that he was in the bedroom when the gun and late Said that tawon was playing with the gun was off off.
In the days following the shooting, Tawon’s Father Spoke to Rice on the Phone and Recorded the Call. During the Call, Rice Told his Brother that he had told tawon to unload the gun and clean the bullets. Rice Also Told His Brother That Tawon Had Been Posing with the Gun while on the Phone. Rice Said That Wen He Grabbed the Gun from Tawon, IT FIED.
Rice was also recorded in a call he made from jail telling his mother not to mind the gun to the Grand Jury, Prosecutors Said.
His Next Court Date is June 10.
Rice Also Has a Pending Aggravated Criminal Assault Case, Prosecutors Said.
