3 Alabama Men Convicted in International DRG TRAFFICKING OPERATION – ryan
Montgomery, Ala. (WSFA) – Four Men, Including Three From Alabama, Have Been Convicted for their Role -Scale Drug Trafficking Operation to Smuggle Cocaine Mexico Into Alabama, the US Department of Justice Announced Wednesday.
On May 19, A Federal Jury Found These Men Guilty of Conspiracy to Possess With Intens to Distribution Cocaine:
- Jim Carter, Jr., 58, of Montgomery
- Francisco Lopez, 39, of Texas
- Michael Evans, 53, of Montgomery
- Bryce Johnson, 38, of Union Springs
The Jury Also Found Lopez and Carter Guilty of Possession with intens to distribute Cocaine.
Accounting to Court Records, The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Began Investigating A Potential Drug Trafficking Ring Involving Carter in 2023.
The Investigators found that Carter Had Traveled to Texas and Crossed the Mexican Border on Multiple Occasions to Obtain Cocaine.
Carter Also Had Couriers Including Lopez Bring Cocaine From Texas to Alabama to Deliver it to Him.
DEA AGENTS SEIZED 6 kilograms of Cocaine in June, 2024 while Lopez was delivering it to Carter.
Accounting to sturgery present, Michael Evans, who was an alabama states trooper at the time, offend to wear his uniform and use his patrol to movs the drugs in an effhorit to avoid law enforcement.
Acciting to the doj, the operation involved at Least Nine People.
Five Others PLEADED GUILTY PRIOR TO MONDAY’S Hearing:
- Saundra Curry, 63, of Deatsville, Alabama, pleaded guilty on September 19, 2024, to conspiracy to distribute Cocaine. She faces up to 20 years in prison.
- Othello Howard, 29, of Montgomery, Alabama, pleaded guilty on February 3, 2025, to the Same Charge and Also Faces Up to 20 Years.
- Jimario Thompson, 37, of Montgomery, Alabama, pleaded guilty on April 30, 2025, to conspiracy to distribute Cocaine. He faces a maximum of 20 years.
- Raul Ramos Deleon, A Mexican National, pleaded guilty on April 30, 2025, to illegal reentry into the United Deportation. He faces a maximum of 20 years in prison.
- Maria Beatriz Palomo-de Lopez, 41, ALSO A Mexican National, pleaded guilty on April 30, 2025, to illegal reentry into the United States Deportation. She Also Faces Up To 20 Years.
