Haryana imposed a fine of 'no salary no salary' on contract workers who stopped in 2024
The Naib Singh Sainin government today implemented the principle of ‘no salary’ against the contractual employees. The order of the Department of Human Resources issued by the general secretary said that the striking contract employees would not receive compensation for the striking days. However, by adopting a generous approach, the government has decided not to hinder their service. No obstacle employed, contract workers stopped from July 20 to August 3, 2024 with the demand of their services. The Haryana government has decided not to pay salaries for the strike period, although there will be no impediment to employees’ service. Last year, thousands of contractual employees stopped the demand of their services. Due to the ongoing campaign of employee organizations, the contractual employees were alleviated and at the end of last year, the Haryana Legislative Bill passed the Haryana Contractual Employees Bill (service of services), 2024, which allowed the contract employees to work or outsourced. Meanwhile, Subhash Lamba, president of the All India State Government Employers Federation, mentioned the decision as “unfortunately” and said it would cause great financial loss for the ‘low paid’ employees. “In fact, the state government was responsible for the cessation of employees, as employees strike after giving appropriate notices. The state government must withdraw the decision immediately and regard the period of the strike as a goodwill as a ‘outstanding’,” Lamba claimed. Share this story -tags
