MUNICATION ACTION AGAINST BJP MP NISHICANT Dubey on anti-SC remarks, 'responsible for Civil Wars' Jibe by CJI | Mint
A letter requesting permission to initiate criminal contempt for BJP parliamentary Nishikant Dubey for his remarks against the Supreme Court and the Chief Justice of India (CJI) was sent to the attorney -general of India. According to a Livelaw report, published on Sunday, the letter calls Dubey’s criticism of the Supreme Court and the whip he took at CJI Sanjiv Khanna. Dubey launched a broad side against the SC and said parliament and the state meetings should be closed if the peak court had to do the laws. He claimed that CJI Khanna was responsible for ‘civil wars’ in the country. Which Dubey said “canoon Yadi High Court Hi Banayega to Sansad Bhavan Bund Kar Dena Chahiye,” the BJP LP in Post in Hindi said on X without expanding. Later, in remarks to Pti, Dubey accused the court of having the legislative powers of parliament on parliament by drafting the laws adopted by the legislature and even providing prescriptions to the president who, according to Dubey, is the appointment authority of the Supreme Court judges. “The Supreme Court is responsible for inciting religious wars in the country. The Supreme Court goes beyond its limits. If one has to go to the Supreme Court for everything, Parliament and the State Meeting must be closed,” Dubey told Ani. In another case, while talking to Ani, Dubey said: “India chief justice, Sanjiv Khanna, is responsible for all the civil wars that take place in this country.” First published: 20 Apr 2025, 03:15 IST
