First government milk bank was opened in Rohtak Pgims
A step toward improving newborn care is a human milk bank in Pandit BD Sharma Pgims, Rohtak, established in collaboration with the National Health Mission (NHM). It is alleged that it is the first institution of its kind in any government institution in the state. This feature will offer Western donor milk to premature born and severely sick newborns whose mothers are unable to breastfeed. Founded at a cost of Rs 40 lakh, this project is equipped with special equipment for medical degree for safe collection, processing and distribution of breast milk. These devices include pumps, pasteurizers, deep freezers, sterilizers, milk analysts and a labeling and tracking system to ensure hygiene operations. “Parent milk is essential for the survival and development of a newborn baby. It contains an ideal mix of nutrients, antibodies and enzymes that are useful to increase immunity, reduce the risk of the disease and the development of the brain.
