ED examination closed in 2010 Commonwealth Games, accepts Court Closure Report

New -Delhi, April 28 (IANS). The closing report of the Directorate for Enforcement (ED) in the money laundering case related to the organization of the Commonwealth Games in 2010 was accepted by the Rouse Avenue Court of Delhi. This decision led to an end to the allegations of money laundering in this 13 -year case. The court has filed the investigation into money laundering that has filed against the former Commonwealth Games Arrangement Committee (OC), Suresh Kalmadi, Lalit Bhanot and other accused. The court ruled that during the investigation no crime of money laundering was proven, and for this reason he accepted the closing report submitted by the maintenance directores. Special Judge Sheev Aggarwal said the CBI had already acquitted the accused in the corruption case, on the basis of which the maintenance directorate began an investigation into money laundering. The court said the prosecution during the investigation failed to draw up a crime under Article 3 of the PMLA. Despite a wise investigation by the ED, no offense was erected under Article 3 of the PMLA. The court said that there was no reason to continue the current ECIR, so the closing report filed by the ED is accepted. The CBI claimed that the organizing committee lost 30 crores due to the illegal allocation of two important contracts for the Commonwealth Games. However, in January 2014, the CBI filed a closing report in the case stating that no offensive evidence had come out and that the allegations could not be proved. -Ians fz/ share these story tags
