Remi Bader Claps Back at Weight Loss Surgery Critics – ryan
Remi Bader is looking back on all the strength that went into her weight loss journey and shutting down those who doubt her effort.
A few weeks after revealing that she underwent bariatric surgery, the influencer compiled videos of her attempting leg raise exercises at the gym. In overlaying text, Bader, 30, specified that the first clip was recorded two days before the operation, which took place on Dec. 11, 2023, as she told Self in March.
Her video posted on Monday, April 14, continued with a clip of her working out three months after her gastric bypass, and the final footage featured her most recently, at one year and 3 months post-op.
“Don’t let anyone ever tell you surgery is the easy way out. I worked hard to get here and i’m forever proud of myself 🩷,” she captioned her transformation video, which was set to Alex Warren’s trending hit “Ordinary.”
In her interview with SelfBader explained how she hesitated to undergo the operation, considering that she built her following as a plus-sized influencer.
“I loved being curvy my whole life; I just did. It was who I was… I will always believe that you could be a bigger size and be healthy and happy,” she told the outlet. “I was for a while, that wasn’t a lie. But there was a point when it shifted, and I became really unhappy.”
After an extremely difficult recovery period that sent the creator into a depressive episode, she started adjusting to her new body and the weight loss that happened faster than she expected. Even over a year later, Bader admitted she’s still “healing and figuring it out.”

“I was lost with my identity before … I wasn’t big enough at first and plus-size enough at first for the plus-size community. Then I became too big … for some brands even to work with,” she told the outlet. “Now I’m too small? I actually don’t know where I’m supposed to be.”
Bader added that she’s committed to being continuously transparent with her followers on social media as she learns to embrace change. She concluded, “I’m going to continue to be online and cry and share and not share and be me, and that’s not changing.”
