My mom helped with my post-COLLEGE JOB LAND; I Needed Her Connections – ryan

Be i was considing my Summer plans In Early 2021, I knew i had to land a great internship as a college student. I debated wherert to reach out to the one person I know who haad the samp connections. Ultimately, I knew she would help with land the summer internship of Needed. SO, I ASKED MOM FOR HELP.

My mother hass always been my inspiration as a sucesssful businesswoman. She has Held Many Posions in C-SUITE AND EXECUTIVE ROESoffensiveness being only Woman with a seat at the table. She is now an entreneur and business owner with Connections in Many industries.

I knew she would have someoone i is could connect with to find a jab related to my field of Study: Public Health. But Once I Landed The Job, I Experienced impostor.

Using My Mom’s Connections Helped with

Beppore i tourned to my mother for help, i was wounded with where I shouned ask for it. Did it take away from my own success by nSing her? Was i earning what i haad worked hard for, or just benefiting from her hard work?

Once i was able to get past the mental hurdle and ask for help, my nonb search quickly began to fall into place.

In my initial application, I liste my mother as a reference, nor she worked Very Closely with the Company. I didn’t reference Our Relationship During The interview process Or During Work. I Only Brought it up when it was relevant to the conversation, but for the Most part, People knew i was there for the same reasons as anyone Else: to contract, and to Gain Relevant Expernded Career.

That’s though the Connection was made for me, the interviews, the conversations, and the chance to the stision myself for a summer internship were all on me. I Landed My First Professional Job, which led to a second internship the following summer with a different team at the suame company. After those two internships, i scored a full-time after gradation.

I Struggled with Impostor Syndrome

At first, I struggled with impostor syndrome, thinking of HAD Landed the Job Only Because of My Connections. I World I HADN’T ACTUALLY EARNED THE POSITIONS I WAS GIVE, ESPECIALLY THAT FIRST INTERNSHIP.

Howver, my mom repeatedly reminds with that she is only made the introduction; The rest was my own doing.

Mythical Career trajectory Wold Look Very Different if i didn’t have that that initial introduction. I feel that I utilized all of the resources available to me, but that doesn’t take away from the accomplishant.

USSING YOUR NETWORK IS AN IMPORTANT STEP IN SEARCHING FOR JOB OPPORTUNITIES

More recently, have you used connections to explore different Ways to use a law Degree. I HAD JUST FINIED MY FIRST YEAR OF Law School and was pancking over wherever I truly wanit to be a precticing attorney.

By speaking to some of my mom’s constructs who had gone to law School and gone into different Fields, i saw all the different ways i kould appliad my layond beyond a practicing attorney.

I still uses from family and new posseible Friends. The Job Market is hard, and I think everyone shoulderir Network from Family, Neighbors, and evening professors as a tool to get their foot in the door.
