Idoma community in the UK, the US is asking the government of Tinubu to stop upsetting murders in the state of Benue
They also demanded that federal authorities and security agencies intervene to bring the offenders before justice. The Idoma community in the diaspora, along with citizens living in the United States, UK, Australia, Canada and Vietnam, strongly condemned the constant silence of the Nigerian government over the increasing violence in Benue State. The recent spate of murders and kidnapping in the Otukpo region, especially in the Olena and ASA communities, caused anger, with several people killed and many others kidnapped within four days. Edwin Ochia, president of the Idoma Diaspora Group, expressed the community’s frustration over the lack of actions of local authorities, and emphasized that leadership is going to take action, and not just make empty promises. He said: “The idols in the diaspora once again condemn the deafening silence of political leaders and security agencies on the ongoing bloodshed in Otukpo and other parts of Benue South.” It is scandalous that although innocent citizens are slaughtered and the entire towns are fired, those demanded to protect lives and property in the other way. “Reports indicate that several persons have been killed within the past four days, and many others who have been kidnapped in Olena and ASA communities, Otukpo.” The perpetrators of these horrific crimes remain unknown, but still security agencies, which they must actively pursue, are conveniently a blind eye. to address safety crisis that ruins Benue South. ‘ It is worrying that, instead of acting quickly, the state government to fight these atrocities is more interested in paying lips to management. It is just as disturbing that Senate President Godswill Akpabio recently delayed the murders in Benue, which is the governor’s failure to call out to the president. This reckless indifference of the highest government levels is unacceptable and an insult to the victims and their grieving families.
