Minister of Bihar spread 700 blankets in the heat of 40 degrees Celsius, criticism of videos viral
Bihar Sports Minister and BJP Mla Surendra Mehta created a wave of online reactions after the blankets in the burning heat were distributed to the residents, when the temperature reached 40 degrees Celsius. The event, held on April 6 in the town of Ahiyapur under Mansurachak block of the Begusarai district, was part of the 45th Foundation Day celebrations of the Bharatiya Janata party. The event allegedly attended more than 700 people, where Mehta spread blankets despite the scorching heat in the Northern India – a traditional cloth, often given as an honor. The move quickly started on social media, where photos and videos of the ceremony became viral. Many users have questioned the practical to share blankets at a time when most areas of Bihar struggle with scorching heat. This step made as a symbolic honor became the subject of mimes, sarcastic remarks and political criticism. One such criticism came on behalf of the Tripura Congress Secretary Sanjeeb Bhattacharya, who shared a track of this program on X (East) and wrote: “Once the congregation stop the ‘migration stop, Job Do’ campaign for the youth of Bihar, it made restlessness among the BJP.” Mehta, who addressed the meeting of the SAJ-Dhaje Manch, described the distribution as a symbol of gratitude and respect for the people. In a Facebook post to the program – later removed – he wrote: “On the 45th foundation day of the world’s largest party committed to the lifting of the poor and nation -building, we honored people in Ahiyapur by offering organ clothing. Jai BJP, Jai Bharat Mata.” Although the minister did not respond directly to criticism, the goals of the move – distribution of essential winter merchandise during the summer season – gave rise to widespread discussions over time, symbolism and political messages. The event took place before the Bihar meeting election, where the BJP prepares to save its political country through the alliance with Janata Dal (United) of Nitish Kumar. Share this story -tags
