Panwari scandal: The judgment of the court after 34 years, 36 convicted, 15 acquitted, 27 died
The Panwari scandal recorded like a deep wound in the history of Uttar Pradesh finally approved the judiciary after 34 years. The Special Court of Agra has now given its much expected ruling in this case, which has become a terrible example of ethnic tension and violence. The court convicted 36 of the 100 accused, while 15 people were acquitted. At the same time, 27 accused involved in the case have already died. What is Panwari scandal? On June 21, 1990, Mundra married Mundra, daughter of a Dalit family in the village of Panwari in the Sikandra police station of Agra. The march comes from the home of a young man named Ramdin, a resident of Nagla Padma, the Sadar police station. The march was to go through the location of the JAT community of the town, but during the climb the people of the JAT community stopped the march. This raised controversy. On June 22, when police tried to climb the march, a crowd of about 5-6 thousand people surrounded the baratist. The police used power to control the situation, but there was also tremendous stone and shooting from the JAT community. During this time, a person, Soni Ram Jat, passed away due to bullets, who became the turning point of the entire incident. There was a heinous ethnic violence in Agra, the news of the death of Soni Ram spread like a forest fire and when seen, ethnic riots broke out throughout the Agra. Especially the houses of the people of the Jatav (Dalit) community were set on fire. In many areas there were incidents of violence, looting and arson. The situation has deteriorated so much that the district administration had to impose ten days for ten days. As the matter was conflict between Dalits and Upper Castes, the heat reached Delhi and Lucknow. The then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had to come to Agra himself. For Riot Control, the then DM Amal Kumar Verma and SSP Karmaer Singh tried to normalize the situation by holding peace talks. The MLA was also the seriousness of the Panwari incident included in the accused of the riots, and this could be measured by the fact that the then Union Minister Ramji Lal Suman himself came to the march. In this case, a case was brought against 6,000 unidentified people under ball trailer, and on June 22, 1990, at the Sikandra police station, attempted to kill and SC/st. Among the accused, the name Chaudhary Babulal, Mla van Fatehpur Sikri, was also unveiled. The decision of the charge magazine and the court, according to Hemant Dixit, Special Prosecutor (DGC), a charge sheet was filed against 80 people in the case. Of these, 27 died. From the remaining 53 accused, the court found 36 guilty, while 15 were acquitted for lack of evidence. 3 Accused are still absolute, against whom not available burden has been issued. There is also a special thing that the age of an accused is 115 years under the conviction, which questions the long -term of the legal process and the slowdown of the system. The conclusion was not only an incident, but it was a terrible symbol of the social substance and cabinets of the time. Although this decision gave partial relief to the Agree Party, it has also shown that the car of justice in the country can be slow, but certainly underway. It will now be seen whether the prisoners receive punishment and whether this decision will give any concrete indication of cupboards and social justice in the coming time.
