From today, Uber users in Delhi can now plan their subway rides by buying their QR-based tickets from the Uber app. According to the agency report, it also gives travelers access to information on transporting their commute. Uber also said that there will be three other cities across India to have the same service as in Delhi in the year 2025, according to the report. This comes after Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi’s visit to India in 2024, where he signed a memorandum of understanding (sleeve) to work with the UNDC to promote the reach and impact of India’s digital public goods. “India has taken an impressive leap in building population scale technology through its digital public infrastructure such as URDC, and we are excited to integrate with them to bring subway tickets to the Uber app and bring us a step closer to our vision of being a one-stop shop for mobility,” Uber, said. Vibhor Jain, acting CEO and COO at Ondc, told the news agency: ‘Uber’s connection of the OndC network is an important step in expanding access to reliable, interoperable digital infrastructure in India. As a global platform, the initial enabling of metro tickets and logistics is elicited from new possibilities – from the concise multimode. Uber said it will soon launch B2B logistics via the Ondc network, a solution that will enable companies to request logistics on request from Uber’s delivery network, without requiring their own fleet. Uber said the service would initially facilitate food deliveries, with its underlying technology designed to scale to sectors such as e-commerce, groceries, pharmacy and health care logistics. “By integrating with UNDC, Uber will be accessible to a wide ecosystem of sellers and platforms, empowering businesses of all sizes to achieve more customers effectively through a plug-and-play logistics low,” Uber said.
