Dawoodi Bohra Samaj delegation met the Premier Modi, expressed gratitude for amending the WAQF Act
New -Delhi, April 17 (IANS). A delegation from Dawoodi Bohra Samaj met on Thursday Prime Minister Narendra Modi and thanked him for the recent amendments in the WAQF Act. Representatives of the Society said that these amendments were in the everyday demands of society, which the prime minister strengthened his confidence by fulfilling it. The delegation expressed the full confidence in the policy of the Prime Minister’s “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas” and said that the decisions made by the government reflect the purpose of inclusion and progress of all classes. He appreciated the positive changes in the country led by PM Modi and thanked the Society for his efforts. The Prime Minister, while dealing with the representatives of the Dawoodi Bohra Samaj, appreciated the contribution of society in the national interest and ensured that the government is always committed to the development of all communities. It is noteworthy that the WAQF (amendment) Bill, 2025, was approved by the president after receiving approval from both houses from parliament, and the government also issued a notice to implement it. However, the Supreme Court imposed an interim residence on some of its provisions. Incidents of protests have also come to light in some parts of the country regarding the Waqf Amendment Act. Violent incidents in particular have occurred from many areas, including Murshidabad, Sati, Dhulian, Jangipur in the Western Bengals. Some people angry with the amendments call it anti -muslim. On the other hand, the case has now reached the Supreme Court. The government assured the court that a new appointment would not be made in Dinotification of WAQF council at this time.
