India received support from all parties in Sri Lanka: PM Modi after meeting the opposition leader Sajith Premdasa

Colombo, April 5 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi met on Saturday during his visit to Sri Lanka, leader of the opposition Sajith Premdasa. He said that the partnership of the two countries has the support of all parties in Sri Lanka. Premier Modi wrote on X, “Sri Lanka’s leader of opposition Shri Sajith was fortunate to meet premdasa. I appreciate his personal contribution and dedication in strengthening India-Sri Lanka. Our special partnership is supported above the party line in Sri Lanka. Our cooperation and strong development partnership are directed by the wheels of our two countries.” Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had bilateral talks at the president’s secretariat in Colombo with the president of Sri Lanka, Anura Kumara Disanayake. Subsequently, several important agreements were signed on both sides, including defense and the development of Tinkomali as an energy center. Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated the president of Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Disanayake for personal dedication to the relations on India-Sri Lanka. Prime Minister Modi wrote on X, “There was a comprehensive and useful talks with President Anura Kumara Disanayake in Colombo. He chose India for his first foreign journey after becoming president. Now I received the honor to be the first foreign leader he offered. Premier Modi said: “There has been a lot of progress since President Disanayake’s visit to India, especially in energy, solar, technology and other fields. In our conversation today, we discussed more ways to speed up security, trade, agriculture, housing, culture and other fields.” Sri Lanka had earlier awarded Prime Minister Narendra Modi the country’s highest honor ‘Mitra Vibhushan’.
