Ashton Hall a.k.a the viral Saratoga Water Guy might have the internet buzzing over his elaborate morning routine, but Gabrielle Union, 52, completely understands the method behind some of the madness — specifically, dipping your face into a bowl of ice water.
While chatting with PEOPLE about her new partnership with PCA Skin — which she’s doing with her friend and personal esthetician, Candice Miele — Union revealed that when it comes to de-puffing your face, dipping it in ice-cold water does the trick.
“My allergies, they’re so bad, and because I have an inflammatory disease, it’s not just like my nose is running. That also happens, but my eyes, I wake up every day and it looks like Hitch,” she said, referring to the classic scene from the 2005 film in which Will Smith’s character has an allergic reaction that causes mass swelling to his face.
She swears by her Shani Darden Facial Sculpting Wand and says when push comes to shove, a good bowl of water and ice will always get the job done.
“(You) can’t beat (that). There’s some dude who’s got his whole morning routine who’s viral right now,” she says referring to Hall. “But I was like, ‘I see you, king, with your bowl of ice,’” she champions. “It can shock the system and give your face a good wake-up (jolt) … He didn’t just make that up. That’s (been around) forever. For generations and generations. It just tightens up your skin.”

And while it’s proven to be effective for the Becoming Mary Jane actress, the process is a bit tedious, she admits.
“The hardest part is finding a bowl,” she quipped. “Going in (the kitchen), hoping you have ice, getting a bowl that’s big enough to fit your face. I don’t always feel like doing all that and then carefully carrying it to the bathroom. I’m not doing that every day. So in the meantime, I got my Shani wand,” she explains.
In addition to her PCA Skin products such as the Vitamin B3 Brightening Serum and the Pro-Max Skin Age Renewal Serum and the Shani Darden wand, Union also makes sure to keep her sunblock handy for that necessary layer of protection, plus, for when she wants her skin to look glowy, she says: “Give me a little dewy mister situation!”
In her Vogue Beauty Secrets video posted on March 12, the Riff Raff actress also revealed that she is obsessed with the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Luminizer. “This is a Fenty classic,” she said in the video. “I literally have 50-1100 of these — in every purse, every drawer. (My daughter) Kav has taken several.”

On TKUnion announced that she and Miele had partnered with PCA Skin to not only share how the brand’s products have changed Union’s skin, but to also break down the stigma around chemical peels.
“The PCA peels are easy (on my skin). And I can say that because I’ve tried others that are very harsh and they can jack you up,” she states. “I resisted (at first), but I was having so many hyperpigmentation issues, unevenness, and Candice was like, ‘Just let me try.’ She assured me. I did and it really moved the needle for me and did not mess up my skin.”
