President Murmu goes on a state visit to Portugal and Slovakia, Tour starts from April 7

New -Delhi, April 2 (IANS). President Draupadi Murmu is on a state visit to Portugal and Slovakia from 7 to 10 April. These visits are expected to strengthen bilateral relations with both countries of India. President Murmu visits Portugal on April 7-8. The visit will take place at the invitation of Portugal President Marcello Rebelo de Susa. This tour has historical importance as it is a symbol of the 50th anniversary of the relocation of diplomatic relations between India and Portugal. The last state visit of an Indian president in Portugal took place in 1998. At the time, President Kr Narayanan visited the country. President Murmu will have a conversation with a high level with President Marcello Rebelo De Susa during her visit. She also holds a meeting with the Prime Minister of Portugal, Luis Montenegro and the National Assembly (Parliament), President Jose Pedro Agnir-Branco. The visit is expected to give new pace to the already bleeding relations between the two countries, including trade, economic relations and expansion of the exchange between people. President Murmu will also deal with the Indian community in Portugal. After the visit to Portugal, President Murmu will visit there on April 9 at the invitation of Slovakia President Peter Palegini. This will be an Indian president’s first visit to Slovakia in about three decades. Slovakia holds bilateral meetings with President Murmu President Palegini and Prime Minister Robert Fico. She will also meet Richard Rasi, president of the National Council of Slovakian Republic. These meetings will be focused on the further reinforcement and expansion of the relationship between India and Slovakia, especially in the field of trade, technology and cultural exchange. Slovakia’s two -day visit highlights how much India is important for its bilateral relations with the Slovak Republic.
