Convocation arranged without Chancellor at Jadavpur University
Kolkata, December 24 (IANS). A convocation was held on Sunday in the absence of the state governor, who is the ex -official chancellor of the University, at Jadavpur University (Ju), Kolkata. The absence of the Governor and Chancellor CV Ananda Bose is reasonably expected, as the convocation was held without his consent, even more surprisingly that Ju’s interim vice -chancellor Buddhadev also did not retain the convocation as a model according to the traditions. While Buddhadev saw the convocation as a guest. Pro vice-chancellor Amitav Dutta served the convocation as a model using the Ju registrar Snehomonju Basu. The University Grants Commission (UGC) also had no representation at the convocation. Now questions are raised about the absence of SAW as a model. Especially after the high-drama running from Saturday. The first governor was removed from the chair that night and then on Sunday morning on the chairman a few hours before the convocation by the state education department. Inner Ju sources said Buddhadev saw the decision to stay away from the chairmanship of the convocation was inspired by a notice issued from the Governor’s Office on Sunday morning, claiming that he would be investigated against complaints against Buddhadev SAW. It was also said that if donations of students were accepted to bear the cost of the convocation, the same amount of the salary of interim vice -chancellors and others would be deducted for it. The governor, who is the chancellor of all state universities, appointed Buddhadev as interim vice -chancellor in August this year after the tragic death of a new student in the university residence. Before seeing Buddhadev, Ju was a long leadership without permanent vice -chancellor. -Ians FZ/SKP shares this story tags
