CM Yogi checked the Integrated Development Plan of MeerUT, instructions to give momentum to development
Lucknow, May 19 (IANS). In order to develop lake as a smart, clean and sustainable city, the chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday checked the ‘Integrated Development Plan’. At the meeting, the Chief Minister was notified that a total of 93 projects are proposed under this scheme, the estimated cost of which is about 15 thousand crores. The work on 6 of these projects has begun. CM Yogi has ordered that all schemes be implemented according to transparency, timeliness and quality standards, taking into account the historical, industrial and educational properties of lake. He said that Meerut was an important center in the journey of freedom struggle to industrial development. The city has a special identity because of the proximity to the sports industry, educational institutions and the national capital. It must be developed as an inspiring city of sports, education, culture and business. He said that the local district administration, development authority and municipal corporation should work with coordination to remove the crowds and traffic congestion from the city. He also instructed to install only digital dishes in Smart Meerut City, bring the entire city to CCTV coverage and empower the monitoring mechanism using businesses and ordinary citizens. The chief minister made clear that the police should be accessible if the footage of the cameras is required. He talked about promoting electric vehicles and encouraging the participation in the city bus services in the city bus service, and he said that lake should form as an environmental example. He instructed to ensure door-to-door garbage collection and made joint efforts to revive rivers to realize the concept of SWACHH Nagar. Also said that STP can be a good option for sewage removal, but it will be more effective to connect drainage to the natural system. The Chief Minister has been notified that this development scheme is based on six important topics, including the beautification of public places, uninterrupted traffic, environmental and social public facilities, the development of industrial and residential infrastructure, historical heritage and redevelopment conservation. These projects are divided into short, middle and long-term phases. 41 projects must be completed within a year. According to the population data, the population of MeerUT in 2021 was about 23 lakhs, which would rise to 33.52 lakhs by 2041. In light of the possibility of remarkable increase in per capita income, it is mandatory to strengthen the infrastructure. The meeting provided detailed information on schemes such as Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Rapid Rail, Ganga Expressway, Dedicated Freight Corridor, Western Ring Road, Internal Ring Road, Smart Roads, Redevelopment of Great Crossings and Development of Cultural Sites. The projects of decorating Sanjay van, Surajund, theme parks, dams and historical sites will also improve quality of life, along with the protection of the environment. The main minister ordered that the maintenance of local parks be better and that places such as Sanjay Forest and Victoria Park should be brought alive. He described the construction of lake Mandapam as important from the point of view of events, and he said that this site would give a new identity to cultural activities to the city. In the field of road connection, the main minister described the 52 km Long Western Ring Road and the inner Ring Road from Ved Vyaspuri to Lohianagar as extremely useful to facilitate connectivity. On the track of Abu Nala I, plans for the expansion of routes such as the proposed internal ring road, regional connection route, Meerut-Shiksitgarh Marg, Daarala-Masuri, Rohta and Garh Road are also discussed in detail. The chief minister was also notified that the most important roads of the city under the ‘CM Grid Meerut’ scheme will be converted into Smart Road. Among them, facilities such as underground utility channel, LED light, sidewalks and signal arrangements will be developed. He ordered the whole city to be crushed and developed in an attractive form, and it must be ensured that there is nowhere unauthorized construction. Along with the construction of the road, utility channels must also be prepared so that roads do not have to be excavated again and again. The chief minister said that the manufacture of jewelry in lake uut was traditionally done. Moreute must be developed as a jewelery center by organizing these traditional skills. Below is shared workplaces, modern equipment, marketing assistance and security structure for artisans. The chief minister was also notified that the scheme was implemented with the participation of the municipal corporation, municipal development authority, the Department of Public Works, the Department of Irrigation and Housing Council. He instructed all the departments to ensure the quality of the works and to take care of special timeliness. As far as the drainage and sewer system is concerned, the Chief Minister directed to be prepared from a long-term perspective, taking into account the needs of the future. He said that water management schemes should be prepared from a scientific and technical point of view in accordance with the increase in population density and changing urban landscapes. -Ians sk/gkt
