China: Heavy fire in the restaurant, 22 people killed

Beijing, April 29 (IANS). A restaurant caught fire on Tuesday afternoon in the city of Liayang in northeastern Liaoning province China. 22 people were killed and three others were injured in the accident. Government media gave this information. The cause of the fire is not yet known. Officers are investigating the matter. According to government broadcaster CCTV, the fire broke out in a residence in a residential area at about 12:25 p.m. According to the report of the Xinhua news agency, Chinese President Xi Jinping called on the injured to make “all possible efforts” to give the best possible medical care. He instructed officials to strengthen fire safety measures across the country. This is the second major fire tragedy in China this month. On April 9, 20 elders died in a fire in a nursing home in Longhua County in Chengde City of Hebei, North China. A total of 39 people were present in the building at the time of the fire. There have been many deadly accidents in China over the past few years, for which gas leakage, old infrastructure or poor safety application is responsible. In March last year, two people were killed and 26 people injured in an explosion caused by a gas leak in a restaurant in Hebei province. In September, another person died in a gas -related explosion in a high building in Shenzen. Such accidents often increase by illegally stored chemicals, a lack of fire outlet and the violation of the build -up of rules. Sometimes corruption and negligence are responsible for these incidents. In this latest incident, according to some media reports, the fire occurred in the kitchen. This indicates that it may be a case associated with the traditional use of open flames for cuisine. Like the preparation of popular foods such as hot pots, where the food is cooked directly on the flames on the table. -Ians mk/ share this story tags
