Summer love and other essentials for a holiday home | Mint
The summer for most of India is liminal – it seems to be peeking at the end or beginning of each season. There is no time when we truly forget the heat, unlike Northern Europe that sees the sun for a few months and still needs fires to enjoy it. The days are long, and the heat causes laziness, many complaints and a lot of suffering, but the summer is also about vacations if you are in professions such as teaching and the law, or to fill time for children who have too much of it at home. We have compiled a list of 30 essentials for the summer, whether you are at home all day or want to raise your feet after a day in the sun. Everything on our list was compiled by the team, and these are all kinds of common items we use, appreciate and enjoy. It is a wrong discoveries of our own search for ways to stay cool, relieve boredom, relax or just have fun. We have a list of repetitions that bring comfort in any season, AI tools calm you down, books to read and recipes to bring spices to boring summers vegetables. From plant mists for your balcony to automatic refilling of water bowls for your pets, we share our summer love. Much is made of summer romance in the West, but we tend to discuss it for the monsoon in India if the air is mysterious, the rain is comforting and the temperature is calming. Rohit Chawla’s new book Rain Dogs captures the seasonal romance and his love for stray animals, as Avantika Bhuyan writes. The Pandemic five years ago was a time when many houses brought into the house and took animals that were suddenly deprived of the human contact they had gained. Chawla does not touch this aspect, but his beautiful photos capture the spirit of that strange time and emphasize this bond. Tommy Hilfiger, the designer known for his Signature American Preppy Design Aesthetic, was in India earlier this week for the launch of his eponymous brand’s new store in Bandra Kurla complex in Mumbai-but it is by no means his first visit to the city. Hilfiger created his first collection in Mumbai and adjusted it near Juhu Beach in 1971. He tells Dhara Vora Sabhnani about the constant importance of India on his fashion and his personal style. If there’s one thing Indians hold more than breakfast, it’s carbohydrates. And Asian breakfast with their hot dishes, steamed and lightly cooked dishes and carbohydrate-heavy kitchen are ideal for the Indian palate. Kaya Toast, Matcha Brioche and Kopi-O find many people in cities in India before 11am, while people are looking for breakfast, especially on weekends. Ruth Dsouza Prabhu finds out what is on dinner plates every morning. Modern phones are digital apartments. Over time, the junk builds up, but space-on. Despite devices that boast 128 GB or more, most of us are somehow the space-just when we need to record a video, install an update or download the must-app. Just as you decutter from time to time, your smartphone also needs some difficult love. Fortunately, you do not have to “move out” (delete programs) to get breathing room. Just open the digital windows, wipe the corners and think about what should be stored locally. With a little strategy, you can make your phone feel lighter and faster. Lounge offers some household tips that protect your precious data while freeing space on your device. Never before in the history of man has spent so many people staring at screens. Children attend digital classrooms; Adults vary between jobs and relaxation devices. With eye tension due to excessive use of the screen that affects younger people at unprecedented levels, Eye Health is an under recognized boundaries of preventative medicine, reports Tanisha Saxena. Visure health is much more than a matter of sight; It can be an early warning system for chronic diseases and a marker of neurological function. A thorough eye examination can reveal early signs of hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular problems and Alzheimer’s. The records in the current world have been tumbling faster since Carbon Shoes debuted about eight years ago, and recreational runners of all abilities bought the idea that these shoes could also help them get faster and improve their timing. Most carbon shoes are designed for specific distances. For example, Nike’s Vaporfly series is for distances to half marathons, while the Alfelly series is for full marathons. Similarly, Adidas offers Takumi Sens for racing up to 10 km and its Adios Pro series for longer races. Before three major marathons, Shrenik Alani tried two trending pairs of shoes – Adidas’ Adizero Takumi Sen 10 while he was a 10 km in Nike’s Alphafly 3 – to find out how they went on the road. The Google Pixel 9A doesn’t get much wrong, and starts with the minimalist design, calming colors and soft feeling, writes Shouvik Das. This is the seventh version of the Pixel, and has a starting price of £ 49,999, more than 7% lower than its predecessor – perhaps an effect that Google is gathering its pixel zone in India. At this price you get all the latest AI chops from Google (including ‘Add Me’ in the camera and ‘Magic Editor’ in Google Photos), the same 6.3-inch OLED screen as the Pixel 9, the latest generation ‘TENSOR G4’, and 256 GB fixed storage. The screen provides the contemporary standard of 120Hz update rate-according to simple terms, which means your eyes will consider it silky. First published: 19 Apr 2025, 22:25 IST
