The expected amendment for 2025-26 has been postponed in the collector’s figures that make the purchase of property more expensive in Haryana and the current rates will remain in effect. The income section issued orders that the existing rates, which affect property transactions and stamp duty in the state, will remain in force until ‘next order’. Sumita Mishra, commissioner and additional general secretary (income), confirmed: ‘The collector’s figures in Haryana were reviewed in December 2024. We have issued instructions that the current rates will remain in power to further orders. We have not yet sought any report from the districts on the amendment. ‘ The ‘most important’ order of the government sent to all the districts has led to registration of the transfer of real estate for the year 2025-26 against the previous collector’s figures to continue further orders in the public interest. ‘Since the amendment of the collector’s figures is usually done at the beginning of the new financial year in April, sources said that the districts did until March to change the collectors. According to the available information, some districts have prepared proposals at their level by recommending an increase of 10 to 25 percent and even preparing to charge public objections to these rates, while the government has not sought such report. Sources said the decision to postpone the amendment in the collector’s figures was made because the previous amendment was made four months ago. The annual amendment due to the Lok Sabha election in 2024 was postponed in April. The rates could not be amended, even after the election was over, as the election in the state was declared in August. The new government took the lead in October and changed the collector’s figures in December last year. Share this story -tags
