Champion PSG hits Montpellier and Monaco Seals Champions League place
Paris (AP) Ligue 1 champion Paris Saint-Germain does not need his usual stalwarts to beat Montpellier 4-1 in the last place with a Goncalo Ramos hat trick on Saturday. Behind PSG, Monaco sealed a place in next season’s Champions League on the penultimate match day after beating Lyon 2-0. Marseille can also guarantee a Champions League place if it won at Le Havre. The Southern Club led 1-0 when the match was stopped due to problems with the crowd. It resumed after about half an hour. After coming past Arsenal Midweek to reach the Champions League final, PSG coach Luis Enrique, equipped seven players: Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, Nuno Mendes, Willian Pacho, Fabian Ruiz and Vitinha. Senny Mayulu, an 18-year-old midfielder, got a start and did not disappoint PSG before halftime with a powerful strike for his second purpose this season. Ramos made it 2-0 of a bend and added another purpose from the place. After winning the league by six games, PSG hopes for the first time ever. In addition to the final of the Champions League against Inter Milan on May 31, Enrique’s team will have another chance of more silverware against Reims this week before. Monaco sealed his 18th win this season with goals from Takumi Minamino and Denis Zakaria and will be assured that they will end among the three best teams. The top three qualify for the group phase of the Champions League, and the fourth team achieved a place in the qualifying rounds. ___
