Champai Soren demanded that the discussion be withdrawn for tribes adopted by other religions

Former Jharkhand’s chief minister and senior BJP leader Champai Soren made a controversial statement demanding him to withdraw benefits for bumps for bumps zone that either other religion has adopted or married from their community. His remarks came to address the Sarhul/Baha Milan ceremony in Jahergarh in Balidih in the Bokaro district. During his speech, Soren strongly opposed to continuing benefits for tribes adopting other religions, arguing that such practices were compromised by the cultural and religious identity of indigenous communities. He also said that tribal women who marry outside the community should no longer be entitled to discussion facilities. Soren said: ‘Styl identity is at risk’ ‘warning of potted culture, Champai Soren urged the tribal population to’ wake up and protect their traditions and religious practices’. He said, “If we do not wake up now, there will be no one to pray in our holy areas of our indigenous religion.” Soren emphasized that the basic identity of the tribal population will gradually disappear by constantly obtaining the conversion of converted or inter-caste marriages into the discussion system. The former CM also expressed concerns about Santhal Pargana and illegal seizures about the weakened situation in Santhal Pargana, claiming that the tribes were at risk on two sides: converted persons occupied reserved seats and illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators allegedly grabbed the tribal country. According to Soren, these invaders not only marry tribal women, but also manipulate local management structures. He insisted: ‘They marry our wives, fight through the local body elections through them and utilize the discussion for our people. It must be stopped. ‘ Soren’s remarks are expected to debate Jharkhand in political and social sites, especially at the complex intersection of tribal rights, religious freedom and identity politics.
