The congress found himself in logger heads with the BJP again, this time because of his MP Shashi Tharoor. The BJP, who recently mentioned Tharoor as part of his delegation for his mega diplomatic outreach, questioned the congress about the position of the Kerala leader within his own party. The center recently nominated Tharoor as the leader of the US delegation who will be part of the diplomatic outreach program on April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and the subsequent retaliation of India’s Pakistan terrorist camps, called Operation Sindoor. The latest row between the BJP and the congress broke out after it was revealed that Shashi Tharoor was not included in the list of recommendations that the congress gave the diplomatic outreach. Veteran leader Jairam Ramesh acknowledged that the leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi presented the official list at Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, and Tharoor’s name did not appear among the four names in it. What did BJP say? BJP leader Amit Malviya on Saturday questioned the congress’s decision not to nominate Shashi Tharoor’s name, despite his knowledge of foreign policy affairs. “No one can deny the eloquence of Shashi Tharoor, his long experience as a United Nations official and his deep insights on foreign policy matters,” he said. “Why did the congress part and especially Rahul Gandhi-notes not to nominate him for the Meerparty delegations sent abroad to explain India’s position on key issues?” Malviya asked. He wonders if the decision was made out of ‘uncertainty’ or jealousy. “Is this uncertainty? Jealousy? Or simply intolerance to someone who surpasses the ‘high command’? ‘ The congress defends the attitude of his reveal about the names, Jairam Ramesh issued a revival on Saturday, saying that it is possible that Rijiju spoke to Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, even after the center set up his mind. “It is possible that ‘Mr. Rijiju talked to Rahul Ji and Kharge, even after the government decided, but I give him the benefit of the doubt. But what happened is dishonest. We’re not going to change these four names, ‘he said. Ramesh dropped to the government during a media briefing on 24, Akbar Road, saying: “You cannot include names of MPs (in delegations) without consulting the party.” In a democratic system, when individual MPs are sent to an official delegation, MPs must seek the consent of the party, he said. Ramesh accused the government of playing “Narad Muni Politics”. He said it is “dishonest” and “ominous” to ask for the congress for names when they probably decided the names before that. Ramesh also claimed that the entire delegating exercise is a ‘distracting and cosmetic exercise’. Ramesh added that asking names and then calling someone else was ‘dishonest’ on the part of the government. “We were asked for names. We expected the names we gave to be included. We hoped that the names given by the party would be included. But when we saw Pib’s press release, we were surprised. I can’t say what’s going to happen now. Ask four names, four names and announcement of another name is a dishonest on the government’s part. “
