It is not appropriate to discuss safety and trade with America: Japanese Premier
Tokyo, April 20 (IANS). Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba said on Sunday it would not be appropriate to discuss safety and trade with the US. The Japanese Prime Minister said during the local TV show: “I don’t think it’s appropriate to discuss security and business together. We need to solve safety issues without connecting them with rates.” This was said through his close help a few days after his meeting with Trump and senior US officials at the recently increased tariff. As for the conversation, the prime minister said: “They must have an acceptable result for both sides. We want to take the time needed to make a model for the world.” He once again said that he would visit the US at the ‘most suitable time’. He said he (Trump) regards the US trade deficit with countries other than his top priority. The prime minister also promised to judge Japan’s car rules to facilitate talks with the US. The prime minister said: “We will work hard to ensure that Japan is not accused of improper behavior.” Ishiba, who expressed concern about the negative effects of US-China tariff growth, assured Japan that Japan would promote cooperation with the organization of Southeast Asian countries and the European Union as pioneers in free trade. Earlier this week, Minister in charge of Japan’s economic revival, Akajawa Ryosai, visited the US and held a meeting on “US tariff measures on the Japan American consultation” regarding US tariff measures with President Trump, US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant and others. Later, Prime Minister Ishiba said a press conference on the meeting that further consultations would remain challenging, but President Trump himself said he gave the best priority to consulting with Japan. -Ians Sch/CBT Share this story Tags
