Government awarded Rs 193.75 crore to set up two critical care blocks and five laboratories

To strengthen the healthcare infrastructure and improve access to quality and cheap medical services, the state government granted Rs 193.75 crore for the establishment of two serious care blocks and five district -integrated public health laboratories. A government spokesman said the Cabinet approved the establishment of a 50-bed serious care block at the Primary Health Center in the Swahn Village Bilaspur and another 50 bedside blocks in the Civil Hospital in Rohru in the Shimla district. He said these facilities would be equipped with advanced medical infrastructure, including emergency services, intensive care units (ICU), high-dependence units, severance beds, dialysis units, labor rooms, operating theater and laboratories for care. Each serious care block will be integrated with the existing district hospital and will serve as a regular function under normal circumstances. However, during the outbreak of a disease such as emergencies or illness such as Kovid-19, they can be physically isolated to ensure strict infection control. He said that each block would be built at a cost of Rs 16.63 crore and equipment worth Rs 27.12 crore would be provided there. Spokesmen said the Cabinet also approved the establishment of district -integrated public health laboratories in Hamirpur District Hospital at Government Medical College, Chamba and Medical College, Hamirpur. The purpose of these laboratories is to improve clinical abilities, quickly investigate and help effective disease control. Each laboratory will provide clinical pathology, hematology, cytology, biochemistry and microbiological facilities under the same roof to increase the efficiency and repetition the resources. Each district -integrated public health laboratory has a team of experts consisting of a pathologist, a microbiologist, a biochemist, 11 laboratory technicians, an operator of data imports and two sweepers. The capital cost of each district -integrated public health laboratory is Rs 21.25 crore, with each annual recurring cost of Rs 49.05 lakh. Share this story -tags
