Birmingham Clinch Promotion to Second Division and Tom Brady says team hasn’t finished yet

London, April 9 (AP) Birmingham, the English football club that NFL Tom Brady considers to be a minority shareholder, ensured the promotion to the Second Championship. A 2-1 victory on Peterborough guaranteed Birmingham an endpoint in one of the two automatic promotional places in the third section, called League One. Birmingham is likely to go up as champion, as it leads second place Wrexham, owned by Hollywood celebrities Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mcelhenney, with 14 points. Wycombe is three points behind Wrexham in third place after beating Huddersfield 1-0 on Tuesday. “Straight to the EFF Championship, and not done yet,” Brady wrote on his Instagram stories. “NFL fans get an accident course in the English football pyramid !!!” In August 2023, Brady gained a stake in Birmingham in his first attempt at the world of football, and as chair of the club’s new advisory board, he said he wanted to bring a turning mentality to a club from Central England that last played in the Premier League. It is the same year he won the English league, one of two major trophies that the club captured in 148-year history. However, Birmingham was traced back at the end of the 2023-24 season of the championship, during which Wayne Rooney had an uncomfortable three-month play as manager before being fired. Birmingham spent great to make an immediate return to the second level. The top scorer is Jay Stansfield, who reportedly cost about 15 million pounds ($ 19 million)-which makes him the most expensive signing by a third team. Stansfield was one of 17 players bought in the transfer window last summer and the rebuilding worked, with Birmingham losing only three of his 40 games and received promotion with six games still playing. Birmingham could also end the season with a cup, after making the final of the Football League trophy – a competition for teams outside the top two levels. The opposition at Sunday’s final at Wembley Stadium will be Peterborough again. (AP) UNG
