The Ministry of Social Affairs has established a public kitchen-spread help to Lewotobi eruption refugees

Jakarta – The Ministry of Social Affairs ensures the basic needs for residents affected by the eruption of Mount Lewotobi in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Public kitchens are established and thousands of logistical assistance has also been distributed to the location concerned. “The Ministry of Social Affairs immediately lowered the PSKBA and Tagana team to East Flores. The public kitchen operated and we sent more than 8,980 instant chances to support refugee needs,” Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) said in a written statement on Wednesday (6/18/2025). Temporary data contains as many as 1,140 households or 4,007 people affected and displaced due to improving the mountain status of standby (level III) to be attentive (level IV). Of these, 1,412 are people in the Tithena District Field Post, while the rest is distributed in various independent positions in other districts, including Wulanggitang, Ilebura, Larantuka and Adonara Island. No residents affected should be neglected,” Gus Ipul said. Meanwhile, according to field reports, most residents have moved independently to the homes of family members who were considered safe. There have been no reports of injuries or casualties until now. The Ministry of Social Affairs also held coordination via Zoom for mapping further needs and long -term refugee awaiting. The Ministry of Social Affairs along with all parties of the Regency government, the provincial government, BNPB, BPBD, TNI and Polri also continues to coordinate and work together on handling impacts, including refugees due to the eruption of Lewotobi. “Help is not only a matter of goods, but also the security of the state is present. Hopefully the spirit of cooperation and social care will continue to strengthen in the light of the disaster,” Gus Ipul said.
