Ex-Wife of Former Tenn. TV Anchor Tried to Hire Hitman to Make Him ‘Disappear and Be Put Underground’: Police – ryan

A Tennessee woman is accused of trying to kill her ex-husband, a former local TV anchor, in a murder-for-hire plot, authorities allege.

On Friday, April 11, Angelia Solomon, 55, of Franklin, was arrested and charged with solicitation to commit first-degree murder against her ex-husband, former WSMV morning anchor Aaron Solomon, the Franklin Police Department said in a statement.

At about 2:15 p.m. on April 11, Angelia Solomon allegedly met with an undercover law enforcement officer who was posing as a “hitman” on the afternoon of April 11 in the parking lot of the Cool Springs Mall, according to the affidavit of complaint obtained by PEOPLE.

Angelia said she wanted to hire the hitman to kill her ex-husband, the affidavit alleges.

She promised the undercover officer “future payment” and gave him the registration to her vehicle as an initial form of collateral for Aaron to “disappear and be put underground,” the affidavit alleges.

Angelia stated that Aaron’s death would provide the couple’s daughter access to a trust fund.

Angelia provided the undercover officer with information on how he could locate Aaron, places he may work, and the area where he lives, according to the affidavit.

The couple’s son, Grant, 18, was killed in a controversial 2020 accident when the teenager’s truck rolled over him with his father nearby, The Tennessean reports.

After his death, Angelia, her daughter and others demanded an investigation into his death, which they allege was suspicious, the Williamson Herald reported.

Angelia remains held in jail on a $500,000 bond.

She is scheduled to appear in court for a reduction hearing on Tuesday, April 15.

Online court records did not provide the name of her public defender who can speak on her behalf.
