New -Delhi, May 21 (IANS). India on Wednesday repeated their dedication to global health equality in the 78th World Health Meeting (WHA) in Geneva. The Indian delegation led by Union Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava emphasized the transformational steps done among the most important scheme such as ‘Ayushman Bharat’, which expanded the health care widely. He said: “The program has expanded access to healthcare, improved infrastructure widely, provides financial security for better treatments and speeded digital health, which paves the way for universal health coverage.” The trade union secretary has emphasized India’s efforts to reduce maternal health, family planning, child deaths and dead births. He said: “India was recently certified by the WHO as a trachoma-free. The country is committed to eliminating diseases such as tuberculosis (TB), leprosy, lymph phylaria, measles, rubella and kalazar.” He added, “In a major policy step, India has raised health coverage under Ayushman Bhan Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana for all citizens older than 70 years, regardless of the economic condition.” The health secretary said: “We have increased the number of medical colleges from 387 to 780 in the last decade to train future health professionals.” Srivastava also repeated India’s strong support for the legal, binding structure that increases global cooperation, with respect for national sovereignty and abilities. He also congratulated the WHO and member states on the historical progress made to pursue the epidemic treaty. The WHO Consolidation in Wha unanimously adopted the purpose of global healthcare gaps and inequalities in terms of future epidemics.
