Chandigarh, April 2 (IANS). In Chandigarh, a case of fraud of about Rs 3.5 crore from him came to light by threatening to digitize a retired army officer. The Chandigarh police have registered a fir in this case and the investigation into the arrest of the accused. Chandigarh SP Geetanjali Khandelwal said it was a case of a digital arrest, in which the aggrieved colonel was told that his bank account was related to money laundering. After this, a court scene was displayed online, with a judge and a police officer. During this time, he was threatened that if they did not pay immediately, they would be digitally arrested. The verongated colonel was intimidated that if he did not give the money, his entire service would deteriorate and take against him against him. Under this pressure, the colonel lost an amount of Rs 3.5 crore within 10-12 days. However, the police frozen a little amount and tried to recover the fraudulent amount. Police also informed that efforts were being made to arrest the accused who had already been withdrawn. In this case, the accused already had information about the colonel and they targeted them based on this information. Various methods were adopted to intimidate the victim. After this incident, Chandigarh police launched a special campaign to make senior citizens aware. Under this campaign, police will go to their home and inform them about cybercrime and tell them how to avoid such fraud cases. Police said this campaign was being conducted taking into account the senior citizens, especially the alone living alone. SP Geetanjali Khandelwal said the priority of the police is to recover the fraudulent amount as much as possible and that the criminals should be arrested.
