J&K Ramban Flash floods: Heavy rainfall due to cloud bursts caused flash floods and landslides in various areas of Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district on Easter Sunday, April 20. Three people, including two children, lost their lives, while the floods washed away the scores of homes and roads. The landslide that blocked the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) left hundreds stretched on the 250 kilometer stretch, the only weather path connecting Kashmir with the rest of India. Maximum damage occurred in the city of Ramban. A rescue operation is performed. The Jammu and Kashmir district administration issued a red warning in Reasi amid rising water levels in the River Chenab. The rafting in the river was suspended, and people were also advised to stay away from the water body. 6. Traffic on strategic Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was suspended because the road was blocked at almost a dozen places between Nashri and Banihal due to landfall and mudslides, officials said. 9. Hundreds of commuters are stranded on the highway 250 kilometers, the only All-Weather road connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country. 10. “The situation is bad. With my return, I will submit my report to the Chief Minister,” said the Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary in Ramban after visiting the areas in question, reports Ani.
