Another person who was arrested for commenting 'anti-national' in Tripura

Agartala, April 28 (IANS). Tripura police arrested another person on social media on Monday because he commented ‘anti-national’. A police officer said the accused was identified as Samid Mia, a resident of Maharani in the Gomti district in southern Tripura. It is alleged that the same ‘anti-national’ posted on social media following the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22. The official said he recently received two complaints to place controversial material on social media in the Gomti district, one of which was arrested and an investigation against the other person. The officer said the Gomti District Police of the Temkachara area was arrested under the Melagarh police station in the Soldierjala district. Tripura police earlier arrested a retired teacher and a student leader in Ambasa in the Dhalai district in the state. Both are in jail now. While the police are either questioned or supervised to make controversial remarks. The official said that all three people were arrested under various divisions of the Code of Justice of India (BNS) and the Information Technology Act. Police officers have asked people not to make no controversial or anti-national comments related to religion or sensitive matters on social media, which can cause ethnic or law and order problems. Police officers also told the people that strict legal action will be taken against the people involved in such activities. Tripura police said in a post on X: “Some people have broadcast inflammatory and misleading messages on social media. Keep in mind that it is a crime under the law to send, share or make such material.
