5.8 Size earthquake in Pakistan also feel shocks in Jammu and Kashmir
Srinagar, April 12 (IANS). On Saturday there was an earthquake of 5.8 in Pakistan on the Richter scale. Earthquake -motion was also felt in Jammu and Kashmir. Meteorological Director Mukhtar Ahmed told Ians that an earthquake of 5.8 on the Richter scale on Saturday at 13:00:55 Hours at 33.63 degrees North Bridead and 72.46 degrees. Ahmed said: “The epicenter of the earthquake was in the Pakistan region. The earthquake came within 10 km of the earth. Light tremor was also felt in Jammu and Kashmir.” As far as earthquake science is concerned, the Kashmir Valley is located in the earthquake-ordinary area, where earthquakes have caused havoc in the past. On October 8, 2005, at 8.50 o’clock, an earthquake of 7.6 took place on the Richter scale with a center in Muzaffarabad in Pakistan -in occupied Kashmir (Pok). It killed more than 80,000 people on both sides of the Line or Control (LOC). There were also shocks felt in Afghanistan, Tajikistan, India and Zinjiang. It was the fifth most deadliest natural disaster of the decade. According to sources, the official number of deaths in this earthquake in Pakistan was between 73,276 and 87.350, while the death toll was more than 1,00,000, according to some estimates. 1,360 people were killed in India, while 6,266 people were injured. Four people died in Afghanistan. Three and a half million people were homeless in the 2005 earthquake, approximately 138,000 people were injured. In the Chenab Valley region of Jammu and Kashmir, earthquake was felt from time to time over the past ten years. Some of these incidents caused cracks in many private and government buildings in Kishtwar and Doda districts, and they could not live.
