Waka MPR encourages every policy
Jakarta – Deputy Chairman of the MPR Lestari Moerdijat (Rerie) emphasized that efforts to achieve equality in everyday life for every citizen must consistently realize, not least for women. The struggle to achieve equality in everyday life about the ongoing practice of discrimination in a number of sectors must be a shared concern. “As Ra Kartini fights for it hundreds of years ago,” Rerie said in her statement Thursday (4/17/2025). Records of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in March 2025 revealed one in ten workers or about 14.37% of workers in Indonesia in 2024. It is a pity that this type of work affects the low protection of health and social insurance at work. In terms of health insurance, there are as many as 73.42% of female breadwinners who claimed to have the health insurance. While 76.94% female breadwinners also did not receive job accident insurance. A number of these notes, according to Rerie, should be a joint concern for stakeholders at central and regional level, so that solutions can find it immediately to overcome it. Rerie assesses that the phenomenon of female breadwinners that starts to emerge should be expected completely with the right steps. “I hope that the right anticipating measures can reduce the potential of women to carry excessive burdens in everyday life,” said the member of the House of Representatives Commission X of the Central Java District II. Rerie encouraged the parties involved to be able to bring policy on the basis of efforts to maintain the principles of gender equality. He hopes that the values of Ra Kartini’s struggle, such as encouraging equality and equal rights between women and men in a number of fields, including protection in the world of work, can be applied continuously in everyday life.
