The central government will start the national land spectral library to 'digital agriculture'
New -Delhi, May 17 (IANS). According to the information given by the Central Government, Agriculture Minister Shavaj Singh Chauhan will serve on a high level consultation on ‘developed agriculture’ in Nagpur on Monday. In addition, they will also review important agricultural and rural development schemes. According to the statement from the Ministry of Agriculture, Devendra Fadnavis, chief minister of Maharashtra, will also attend the meeting. Union Minister Shivraj Singh will set up the National Soil Spectral Library (NSSL). NSSL is a leading initiative in digital agriculture, developed by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, National Bureau of Land Recording and Land Use Planning, Nagpur, Indian Institute of Soil Science-Bhopal, Indian Agriculture Research Institute-New Delhi. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, this initiative is part of the Princess Agriculture network program. Union Minister Shivraj Singh will also launch an AI-based Smart Trap for Pink Ballworm, an important insect pink that affects cotton crops. ICAR-Central Cotton Research Institute-This technique developed by Nagpur uses advanced machine learning algorithms for accurate insect control. During the program, progressive farmers of the region will also be honored for their significant contribution to agriculture. According to the ministry, the establishment of the National Soil Spectral Library is an important milestone in India’s journey to digital agriculture. This library will facilitate a contactless, acute and cost-effective method of soil analysis instead of traditional weight chemical based testing. The land spectral data representing India’s diverse agricultural class areas will formally be dedicated to the country by the Union Minister.
