No water, not a bride, people who want to fall near the dam should burn the feet to quench thirst

Water is life … This motto suggests how important water is for life. A village in Rajasthan wants to get this ‘life’. The residents living on the hill must walk 2 kilometers to extinguish their thirst. The life of the women of the village is spent in water management. The situation now is that it becomes difficult for the youth of the town to find a bride. No one wants to marry their daughter in this town. This unfortunate village is in Banswara, Rajasthan, known as the city of Cherrapunji and a hundred islands. The name of the village is Kundal and unfortunately, despite the abundant water resources of the Mahi River, there is a great lack of water in the small Saravan subdivision, thereby becoming the lives of the inhabitants like hell. In the scorching summer, 300 residents of the town travel 1-2 km for two drops of water. No bride comes to town. A lack of water also influenced the social life of the town, where the people of Kundal Village are marrying their daughters. The trained youth of the town say that their marriages were also postponed due to a lack of water. A young graduate said: “If someone brings a marriage proposal, people refuse to marry their daughter because of the water problem.” This village with 300 people and a hand pump 70 houses has only one hand pump, where water has to wait hours. This hand pump extinguishes not only the thirst of 300 people, but also hundreds of animals depend on it. The reservoirs dry as soon as the summer starts in this town, on the high hill. The wells and rivers got completely dry and most of the hand pumps deteriorated. Each home water scheme is limited to paper only. Villagers said they complained to the Phed several times about the water problem, but that no solution was done. After filling the water, close the drum. Women who landed 1-2 km on the hill in search of water exposed politicians and government machinery. The villagers say: “Leaders just come to vote at the time of the election, and then no one comes to take care of us.” Residents have warned that they will not allow the leaders to enter the town during the Panchayat Raj election. In the summer, when the reservoirs dry up, the villagers bring water from far and wide, fill in drums and close it. Evil women in women collect this water in drums and use it for a few days to drink, cook and bathe. The women and youths of the town demanded from the government to arrange clean drinking water immediately. The anger of women who waited for hours in the village on water was clearly visible. Villagers said: “The government should be concerned about us and find a permanent solution to the water problem.” Share this story -tags
