A new reality show – Race to Space – offers one happy Indian citizen the chance to travel to space in Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin New Shepard Rocket, developed for space tourism. This comes after the female crew, including Katy Perry, made an 11 -minute flight to space in space. According to a media statement, the producing firm Banijay Asia is a partnership with the Space Exploration and Research Agency (Sera) to create the groundbreaking reality show that one ordinary individual will choose to start a one-time journey to space. Banijay Asia said Race to Space will display a competitive format. Participants from all over India will have a chance to travel on Blue Origin’s rocket, and he joins the growing list of pioneers who have reached space. Banijay Asia said his cooperation with Sera would ensure that this unique experience is accessible to ordinary Indians. “It will democratize space travel in India and mark a historic moment in India’s journey in space exploration,” it says. The female crew visited Space in Blue Origin Rocket on April 14, pop star Katy Perry and five other women launched in space on a Blue Origin rocket and successfully returned to Earth, which was the first female space cruise in more than 60 years. Previously, Soviet -Kosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova -the first woman in space -worked around the earth around an almost three -day solo flight in 1963. This six -person crew traveled to the edge of space, where they experienced a short period of weightlessness before returning to 11 minutes in a flight. The crew also included Jeff Bezos’ fiancé Lauren Sanchez, CBS host Gayle King, former Nasa rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, scientific Amanda Nguyen and film producer Kerianne Flynn. How much does a 11 -minute trip to space cost? Blue origin does not reveal the average cost of a seat on one of his rockets. On its website, the company says potential passengers should pay $ 150,000 in the form of a refundable deposit to start the “ordering process”. In 2021, the company revealed that the highest bid for a seat on its new Shepard spacecraft was $ 28 million. In the same year, Star Trek actor William Shatner flew for free as gas of blue origin. In 2018, Reuters reported that the company intended to charge passengers at least $ 200,000 for the ride. Blue Origin says on its website it is aimed at radically reducing the cost of access to space, with its rockets designed for reusability. (With agency input) first published: 17 Apr 2025, 12:10 IST
