Electronic cigarettes have 'immediate effects' on the blood vessels
A new scientific study revealed the existence of immediate effects of electronic smoke on vascular functions, even in the absence of nicotine. The results show a noticeable decrease in the velocity of the blood flow in the artery after each type of traditional or electronic smoke, and the largest decrease was linked to electronic cigarettes with nicotine, followed by its empty. The study published during the activities of the North American Radiation Association says that electronic cigarettes are not damaged, and that its ceasing is the best option for vascular and body health in general. Electronic cigarettes, or known as “Fib”, devices with batteries that heat a liquid to produce a spray in the lungs. Although it contains fewer amounts of toxic chemicals compared to traditional cigarettes, it is not without health damage, especially on blood vessels. The different scents contributed to increasing their popularity, especially among young people. Electronic cigarettes damage and the first author of the study, Marianne Nabbout, a resident of the Arkansas University of Medical Sciences Department, says “electronic cigarettes are often marketed than a safer alternative to traditional smoking,” some people believe they are free of harmful compounds in traditional cigarettes. The study was conducted at the University of Pennsylvania, and included 31 smokers and electronic cigarette users between the ages of 21 and 49 years. During three separate sessions, participants smoked MRI before and after smoking of nicotine -free electronic cigarettes, electronic cigarettes containing nicotine and traditional cigarettes. The velocity of the blood flow in the artery is measured, and the oxygen saturation in venous blood, in addition to the blood circulation activity in the brain using advanced magnetic resonance technique. The study compared data to a reference group of 10 -smoking people, and not users of electronic cigarettes. Electronic smoking The results show a noticeable decrease in the velocity of the blood flow in the artery after each type of smoke, or electronic smoke, and the largest decrease is linked to nicotine -containing electronic cigarettes, followed by those without it. A decrease in the oxygen saturation in venous blood was also observed in electronic cigarette users, which indicates an immediate decrease in the ability of the lungs to absorb oxygen. Whether in traditional or electronic cigarettes, the fumes that result from them contain accurate particles and chemicals, such as volatile substances, and oxidizing compounds, causing irritation in the blood vessels, and leads to temporary shrinkage. Electronic cigarettes produce free radicals, even without containing nicotine, causing so -called tension of oxidation, a condition that leads to a defect in the function of the ventricular cells that play the blood vessels, which play an important role in regulating vessels, and if stripped, it becomes less effective. The negative effects of electronic cigarettes containing nicotine, which stimulate the synthetic nervous system, are increasing, resulting in a temporary high blood pressure, stenosis of the vessels and thus low blood flow. All scientific studies advise smokers to stay away from all smoking products, and also emphasize the absence of a safe alternative to traditional cigarettes.
